👏👏👏👍 good idea good work
Nice!!! You should sell these! Definitely interested
Wear eye protection with wire wheel products, they eject wire projectiles at high speed the can embed in an eyeball faster than you can blink once. Don't ask how I know
Very nice idea! I've found by soaking my blade in water with baking soda and Dawn, I'm able to scrub off all the pitch in just a few seconds with a regular nylon brush. But your method uses a power tool, so it's probably better and I'll probably start doing it. Thanks for the idea!
Interesting, I’ll have to try soaking it! This works great though as a method for when you need to do it quick! I also got really tired of scrubbing by hand
just use a shorter bolt.
Shorter bolts don’t have the non threaded region for the blade to sit on.
Mount the Dremel onto your jig with a hose clamp, and use a drill on the bolt from behind on a low speed. Spray every 4-5 seconds... it should get those face teeth clean in even quicker time.
This is a cool idea/tip. Thanks, and I subscribed.
One tip is to cut the opposite part at the same time, clamped together. The exact position of a sliding dovetail or dado is rarely super critical, the important thing is usually that it ends up in the same position in the opposite part. Cutting both at the same time ensures this and speed up the process. V-groove step can be skipped and layout doesn't need to be super accurate.
Ideally yes you would cut them from the same board, but in general the exact dimension is very important in much of my work! In this case, any deviation in the dados and the dividers that house the drawer slides would be off and would not sit flush with the drawer openings!
Thank you. A really useful tip.
Glad it helped! Cheers
I did not see your finish lines after the cut.
Look closely! On a few of them I have pencil lines to help see. My camera doesn’t do close ups well. Stay tuned to see the completed hallway table and you’ll see how accurate they are!
Work smarter, or harder 😊 👏👏👍🏻
Good tip. Will definitely use it.
Do you have a piece in Northern Woods this year?
I had some pieces, but didn’t decide to do it this year. You?
Great tip, thanks!
Glad you found it helpful!
Awesome tip Tranq. I gotta get me a V bit!
Thanks for watching DK! Try it, it’s a game changer!
Hi, beautiful box. Just wondering what size magnets you used ? I've seen some on Amazon with different depths 2mm - 4mm? Thanks for sharing your amazing creative talents
Use a plunge router with a 1/2 upcut bit for mortice..dado stack for tennon
every think is good but still have blade wooble😢
Just watched this whole video, super relaxing! Great bowl too!
Thank you my friend! Decided to try out a new video style, glad you enjoyed
Amazing
Mmmm butterly
Haha oops
The best recording of this piece I’ve listened to on RUclips, beautiful work!
Bro. Great build, but routing without eye protection is completely psychotic. Please protect yourself
You are ALWAYS one clamp shy of having just the right amount. LOL!
How thick of a table top do you need for dog holes to work? My table top is only 1 1/2 inch. Would that be thick enough?
another fast talker. We can't learn what you're doing. If you're talking so fast, we can't absorb what you're saying. This always gets a dislike for me. 1:06
Turn down the video playback speed.
I don't know why people pretend its only Japan that ever does this stuff
Looks good

That heat insert press was freakin' dope!!!!
Thanks! I’ll be doing a video on it soon - stay tuned
this is epic
🙏 I would love a copy of those plans, I have the iron, the parts but no 3D print models to hold it all together yet. Well done 👍.
I will be doing a video on it soon!
I really like bird’s eye maple but find it difficult to plane. My choice for a top would probably be have been walnut but purple heart pops. I find the box on the heavy side for a jewellery box, more like a man’s box for odds and sods. Maybe 1/2” thick would look more elegant to a lady but a nice project.
I like the Cosman inspired design!! Makes me rethink my plans to build it with plywood
What do you think about using Red Alder instead of pine and continue that onto the top?
Eye protection, dude. No project is worth the price of your eyesight. Safety goggles at Harbor Freight can be had for like $2.00, sometimes FREE if they part of a special promotion. Great work though! Very informative! Protect your eyes. 👍🏽
Did you do pilot holes on each sheet of mdf? Also what screw size did you use
Yes pilot hole through all the sheets. I probably used #8 screws
@@TheTranq thank you! Did you remove the screws after the glue dried?
@@kevinb6102 yup!
@@TheTranq thx
Genius. Just what I needed in regards to the top! Thanks how’s it holding up
It’s held up well! I’d still go with a hardwood top if it’s in the budget but otherwise this is a great alternative
Vedio sucks
How can I buy the I semble jig
I bought and used your jig. I had some issues with it that you could easily fix to make it more useable for more people. The first jig used on the first hole worked on your router because it has an small base. I own 3 different plugs routers and they all had bases that would “fall off” jig when you get to the outer edges. When this happens the bit chewed up the jig making it irregular. If you could make this one piece maybe 2 to 3 ,inches longer on both sides it would solve this issue. I had to practice holding the router out over the edge in mid air which made the cut uneven. I then used a chisel to cut it down to correct depth. Of course the more I used it the better I got at it. Overall your concept is excellent the the depth gagues and jig for setting up drilling the holes were perfect. I also had a hard time finding the correct bit. I went to 5 stores including driving 50 miles to a Rockler store and no one had it. I finally ordered it online from Rockler. Overall I’m glad I bought your jig and thank you for putting it online to buy. Keep up the good work.

Nice jig to simplify installation. You have a center-line on the side to ensure it goes in the correct location. Can you add a center-line to the mortise to make sure that it's centered on the shelf? Also, can the 9/16 center hole on the template be used when drilling to make sure that the hole is at 90° instead of a separate drilling jig, or are you worried about it getting reamed out over time? - Chris
Good points. I would not recommend using the hole marker insert as a drilling guide as like you said it will ream out. The hole should really be used with a drill guide. Not sure what you mean on a centerline in the mortise? Do you mean on the center of the template?
@@TheTranq Yes, you use a shim to get the template into the right location for the thickness of the shelf. A center-line of the slot in that direction would help ensure that it's in the middle. Close is probably good enough, but a center-line in both directions might help and it wouldn't be hard to implement. - Chris
@@fcschoenthal I see. If you freeze and zoom at 4:56 you’ll see there are markers on the sides to mark center as well!
@@TheTranq OK, I think that at 5:04 I see a line on the end that indicates center.
Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Very helpful, yes Etsy pleaseeeee!
I got one several months ago. Great watch.
